Ali is a leader in marketing strategy, communication and collaboration in the A/E/C industry. John Funderburk, MSPH
John specializes in the redevelopment of contaminated property. He works with landowners, attorneys, and development clients throughout the environmental due diligence and investigation process, and takes his projects forward into remedial design, construction, and cleanup implementation. John is also an expert witness in cases involving forensic analysis to identify dates and sources of contaminant release and has facilitated more than $25 million in cost recovery for clients in the last three years.
Ryan Bixby, LG
Ryan has worked on thousands of commercial, industrial, and residential properties to evaluate the potential environmental risks as part of the environmental due diligence process. Ryan’s collaborative approach toward the completion of remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and cleanup actions ensures that the most cost-effective remedial technologies are implemented and that the client’s objectives are achieved. Ryan has also provided significant litigation support to assign and direct cost-recovery and cost-allocation efforts.
Terry Montoya, PE
Terry is a licensed professional environmental engineer in the State of Washington. He is an innovative and creative engineer who brings extensive experience to solving challenging remediation issues. Terry has designed and overseen a number of cutting edge remedial systems that have addressed solvents in groundwater as well as reduced remedial time frames and budgets.
Annika Wallendahl, PE, LG, PMP
Operations Manager & Senior Scientist
Annika specializes in providing environmental management solutions to industrial clients. She works with facility managers, corporate staff, and attorneys to improve the environmental compliance and sustainability of organizations. She offers a wide range of services including conducting multi-media environmental audits, preparing environmental compliance reports, NPDES and air permit applications and renewals, environmental management systems, and sustainability reports. Annika was the environmental manager at a large manufacturing facility for seven years prior to joining SoundEarth. She is a licensed engineer and a licensed geologist, a PMP-certified project manager, a CARB-accredited greenhouse gas verifier, and a Six Sigma Black Belt.
Dan Lipinski, CPSWQ
Senior Stormwater Scientist
Dan is a stormwater scientist and project manager focused on NPDES compliance, stormwater treatment evaluations, and implementation of stormwater Best Management Practices. Dan’s experience includes source control inspections and evaluations; fluid system design, installation, and operation; and development and implementation of SWPPPs, erosion and sediment control plans, and spill control plans. Dan specializes in innovative solutions for treatment system automation, resulting in significantly decreased labor costs associated with operation and maintenance of water treatment and remediation systems.
Rob is an environmental project manager with experience coordinating and managing environmental projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. He has conducted hundreds of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, soil and groundwater explorations, underground storage tank closures, contaminated site cleanups, and compliance audits at a variety of commercial and industrial properties. His clients have included local municipalities, attorneys, developers, and industrial entities.
Tom Cammarata, LG, LHG
Tom is a licensed geologist and hydrogeologist in Washington State with an advanced degree in field in Geochemistry. Tom has extensive experience in environmental consulting includes evaluating freshwater and marine sediment quality under the SMS, performing aquifer testing, conducting natural attenuation studies, performing statistical analyses, modeling the fate and transport chemicals in soil, air and water, conducting forensic studies, and providing expert witness services. Tom also has considerable experience in regulatory closure of facilities under MTCA. Tom is bilingual with Arabic as his second language.
Chris Cass, LG
Chris is a licensed geologist with an abundance of experience in subsurface contaminant investigations, environmental due diligence, and environmental cleanups and monitoring. He has provided client services in the areas of field support for environmental cleanup activities, groundwater and surface water studies and monitoring, and Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments. Chris also has experience coordinating with regulatory agencies to attain closure for cleanup sites.
Associate Environmental Scientist
Corey is an environmental scientist with expertise managing regulated building materials. Corey provides technical support and management for a diverse array of environmental projects which include hazardous material surveys, indoor air quality investigations, mold and moisture building inspections, underground storage tank site assessments, soil and groundwater investigations, and remediation projects.
Travis specializes in writing environmental technical documents for projects in the Pacific Northwest. He has contributed to SEPA environmental review documents and also prepares Phase I site assessments and sampling activities and reports. Travis has impressive research and investigative skills in data collection and excels in historical research and compiling historical reports, making his technical writing skills and research abilities invaluable to environmental review documents.
Ada has experience in conducting environmental review analysis for environmental investigation and remediation projects. She has worked on a variety of Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments and other NEPA/SEPA documents for Tribes and municipalities. Ada has also completed a wide variety of tasks associated with due diligence, subsurface investigations, and remedial investigations. She excels in report writing, data management, and historical research, as well as project planning coordination.
Clare Tochilin, LG
Clare is a licensed geologist with experience in geologic and hydrogeologic fieldwork, data management and analysis, and report writing involving hazardous waste site remediation as well as clean water supply. Her primary areas of experience include environmental subsurface investigations, remedial excavation and drilling oversight, aquifer testing and analysis, groundwater monitoring, and technical report writing.
Project Stormwater Scientist
Dan has experience working on construction projects for environmentally impaired properties. He is experienced with UST site decommissioning, equipment operation, large excavations, construction stormwater management and sampling, and general construction site support. Dan also has a strong background in UST site decommissioning, construction stormwater management and sampling, heavy equipment operation, and resource allocation and field coordination.
Elyssa Dixon, PE
Elyssa is a licensed engineer with private and public sector experience in remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remedial alternative implementation, and stormwater system design. Her stormwater experience includes conveyance system design and SWPPP compliance monitoring, with a particular interest in low impact development. On remediation projects, Elyssa has developed and evaluated conceptual designs; and completed vapor intrusion assessments and vapor modeling. In addition, she has been responsible for construction oversight; and soil, groundwater, surface water, soil gas, indoor air, sediment, and tissue sample collection.

Ethan is a licensed engineer with experience in operation and maintenance of remediation systems, system installation, injection technologies, and engineering design. Ethan’s background also includes vapor intrusion assessment, soil gas and indoor air sample collection, analysis of soil gas and indoor air laboratory results, and vapor barrier design. Ethan is a CARB-accredited verifier for greenhouse gas reporting and assists industrial facilities with air permitting projects.
Jess Smith, EIT
Jess specializes in engineering in water, sanitation, and stormwater design. Her focus is on designing stormwater systems in the Pacific Northwest using low impact designs and best management practices, to improve the quality of runoff into the surrounding environment. Jess has worked on private and public agency projects, including housing developments, parks, sea walls, aquariums, skate parks, roadways, sidewalks, driveways, and mixed use housing.
Jonathan Loeffler, LG
Jonathan is a licensed geologist with professional experience in a wide variety of technical and task management roles. His areas of expertise include environmental subsurface investigations, geotechnical and environmental drilling oversight, geophysical surveying, groundwater monitoring, remedial excavation oversight, project planning coordination, and technical report writing. He enjoys occasionally kayaking to work!
Staff Stormwater Scientist
Erika specializes in stormwater compliance and NPDES stormwater permit program support for various private and public sector clients. Her experience includes construction site stormwater runoff control, stormwater management for new developments, operation and maintenance of stormwater systems, source control, monitoring, SWPPP development and implementation, database management and reporting, and education programs.
Glenn has experience in Phase I assessments and Phase II subsurface investigations including drilling oversite, soil sampling and logging, groundwater sampling, and technical report writing for site assessments. He also has prior professional experience in mining and exploration including diamond drill supervision and planning, drill core logging, and production stope sampling and mapping.
Grayson has experience in subsurface investigations, remedial injections, sediment, water, and vapor sampling, excavation and drilling oversight, and technical report writing. He has a strong background in groundwater monitoring and sampling, geologic interpretation and modeling, underground storage tank site assessments, and knowledge of the Unified Soil Classification System.
Joe Ellingson, EIT
Joe is a staff engineer with experience in operation and maintenance of remediation systems, system installation, injection technologies, and engineering design. His experience also consists of field work, including sampling, optimization, fluid recovery events, and site remediation oversight. His work also includes vapor intrusion assessments, soil gas and indoor air sample collection, and soil gas and indoor air laboratory result analysis.
Kevin has experience on a wide variety of environmental compliance projects. He specializes in field work and data collection for Phase I site assessments, performing hazardous materials/asbestos surveys, conducting stormwater sampling and CESCL inspections, and providing environmental due diligence for clean-up and remediation projects for both public and private clients. Kevin is a CARB-accredited verifier for greenhouse gas reporting and assists industrial facilities to prepare annual greenhouse gas and environmental compliance reports.
Logan Schumacher, GT
Logan’s experience includes Phase I site assessments, subsurface investigations, excavation and drilling oversight, and groundwater and soil vapor sampling. His expertise also includes technical report writing for site assessments, remedial investigations, sampling and analysis plans, hazardous materials surveys, groundwater reports, and health and safety plans.
Sarah has experience in soil, sediment, benthic macroinvertebrate, surface water, marine water, and groundwater sampling and testing. She also has expertise in oversight of well installation and redevelopment, and treatment system maintenance and troubleshooting.
Siera has professional experience including Phase I site assessments on residential, commercial, and industrial properties, groundwater monitoring and sampling, soil sampling, hazardous building materials inspections (asbestos, lead paint, and PCBs), field investigations, historical research, and technical report writing experience. She also has a strong background in City of Seattle permitting.
Caroline graduated from Whitman College in 2018 with a degree in Geology/Environmental Studies. Her coursework included geomorphology, mineralogy, structural geology, petrology, sedimentology and stratigraphy, and methods of environmental analysis. Caroline also completed a semester abroad in Freiburg, Germany focused on environmental studies and sustainability. At SoundEarth, Caroline is excited to gain experience working in consulting, doing fieldwork, and getting some exposure to environmental assessment writing.
Kyle graduated from the UW in 2018 with a degree in Earth and Space Sciences. While at the UW Kyle was a research assistant on the M9 Project working to map and date coseismic landslides, and also at the Zircon Extraction Lab where he sought to better understand the tectonic uplift of Northwestern Turkey through geochronology. Kyle has had some initial fieldwork experience through the University of Montana in Dillon, MT; and also through Shoshone Education and Research Center in Death Valley, CA. At SoundEarth, Kyle is driven to continue improving upon his abilities in field investigation and technical assessment through the application of skills learned from advanced coursework and independent research.
Naseef is experienced at using ArcGIS and AutoCAD to conceptualize complex subsurface conditions to build 2D and 3D technical drawings for a diverse range of contaminated sites. In addition, he has worked with Washington State and local government entities to acquire and manage permitting requirements for remediation projects. Naseef’s experience also includes analyzing and processing historical information, including maps and aerial imagery to obtain information used for illustrative purposes in ArcGIS.
Brandi has extensive experience with GIS and CAD drafting. She also has expertise in numerical and spatial analysis, technical writing, data interpretation, and visualization methods. Brandi has experience developing GIS mapping tools, managing the CAD infrastructure behind GIS projects, and tying information systems together. Her expertise includes creating visualizations for large amounts of soil, water, noise, and air quality data. Brandi creates 3D site models, cross sections, and other visualizations depicting wells, borings, water-bearing zones, stratigraphic layers, and contaminant distributions.
Project Quality Manager
Hilda is the senior member of the Project Quality Team. Her responsibilities include the supervision of the Technical Editor, Project Coordinators, and the Administrative Assistant. Hilda and her team support all levels within the organization and provide quality control relating to the preparation and distribution of various technical reports prepared by SoundEarth. Hilda reports to the CAO/CFO and is a key resource who provides support for several of the software programs used at SoundEarth. Hilda developed the Project Quality portion of our internal Project Manager Training Program and leads that portion of the training.
Senior Technical Editor
Derra is a versatile technical editor with experience working on a diverse range of documents in the environmental consulting industry. She has served as technical editor for many environmental reports, such as Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, health and safety plans, sampling analysis plans, and related environmental analyses and studies. She is a lead technical editor and has the proven leadership to meet goals and maintain schedules.
Rony has broad experience supporting clients with her GIS, GPS, and Microsoft Office Suite skills, preparing maps and documents for environmental projects throughout Washington State. As a member of the SoundEarth Project Quality Team, she supports environmental scientists, engineers, geologists, performing quality assurance/quality control on reports, proposals, tables, and marketing materials.
Shelby performs quality assurance/quality control review of reports, proposals, tables, marketing materials, letters and memoranda, engineering specifications, and client presentations for environmental, stormwater, and engineering departments, ensuring company quality standards are met. Marketing support duties include working closely with the marketing manager and technical staff to develop deadline-sensitive marketing deliverables such as qualifications packages, proposals, brochures, collateral materials, and social media.
LauraLee is a senior member of our finance team, managing the department and overseeing the daily accounting operations for the company. Her responsibilities include timely preparation of the monthly financial statements, managing the daily cash flow, and assisting with the management our Deltek software. She works closely with the CAO/CFO on special projects and is the lead for our annual CPA review. LauraLee worked with the SoundEarth team to develop the finance portion of our internal Project Manager Training Program and leads that portion of the training.
Marcia is responsible for all activities in the accounts payable department. Marcia enters data, maintains records and files of all company expenses, and processes vendor invoices as well as employee expense reports for timely payments. In addition to being the backup for job setups and billing, Marcia works closely with project managers on accounts receivable.
Sheri is responsible for the Corporate Billing, assisting Project Managers with special client requirements and report requests, completing bi-weekly payroll and 401(k) reconciliations, preparing monthly and quarterly Excise Tax Returns by city and state. Sheri also assists with Accounts Receivable efforts, prepares weekly and month-end Management Reports, Deltek Vision database administration, and she is responsible for job setups that include contract and budget coordination and communication with clients and project managers.
Catherine oversees and coordinates day-to-day administrative operations of an extremely busy front desk, supporting employees in Seattle and California. She manages phones, welcomes and directs visitors, manages incoming and outgoing mail, monitors and manages office supply inventory, and coordinates meetings. She is the key contact to manage catering for events and activities. She is also cross-trained to support multiple divisions within the company, including environmental, finance, stormwater, and project quality. Catherine has a background as an environmental scientist with several years of field sampling, data analysis, and report preparation experience.
