Stormwater Environmental Scienist or Engineer

SoundEarth Strategies Inc., a multi office environmental consulting firm headquartered in Seattle, Washington, has an exciting opportunity for a Stormwater Environmental Scientist/Engineer with stormwater industry related experience to service clients in the greater Puget Sound area. This position may also include work in Eastern Washington and Oregon.

This position will work with SoundEarth project managers, project team members, and clients to conduct site inspections, monitoring, and data management for storm water industrial and construction projects; evaluate and maintain site Best Management Practices (BMPs) for industrial facilities and construction sites including sediment and erosion control; collect soil, sludge, and stormwater samples at client sites; mechanical work on various BMPs and advanced treatment systems (ATS); and review and update Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), as needed.

Requirements: B.S. or equivalent experience in Environmental/Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Science, or related discipline.

Preferred: 0-3 years’ experience in working in one or more of the following sectors:

  • Industrial: Experience with regulatory/permitting requirements, field inspections, BMP operations and maintenance, and ATS operations and maintenance
  • Residential and Commercial Development: Experience with stormwater management during active construction and knowledge of common BMPs
  • Municipal: Experience with regulatory/permitting requirements, field inspections for municipal works, and/or experience with Low Impact Development (LID) projects

The successful candidate must be a highly organized self-starter, work independently at client locations, be available to work flexible and/or long hours as needed while balancing multiple tasks under demanding deadlines, have excellent communication and customer services skills, read and understand environmental regulations, have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, and pass a drug test. Mechanical aptitude is a plus and applicant should be capable of lifting 50 pounds. Off-hour and weekend work may be necessary on occasion.

Must have working knowledge of local regulations. One or more of the following certificates preferred: EIT, CESCL, or CPESC.
